The Total Information Package

It is a whole new game out there, and the dynamics shift fast. To succeed, U.S.-based independent oil and gas operators need the latest business and financial intelligence to make the right decisions at the right times. And they need the latest information on operating strategies and cutting-edge technologies to take to the field. They find it all in The American Oil & Gas Reporter.

Whether the target is oil or natural gas, a conventional or unconventional play, an onshore development project or an ultradeepwater exploration well, it takes a vast array of knowledge and teamwork to get the job done.

In 2010, independent producers plan to continue achieving what many once deemed impossible: growing domestic natural gas output by proving up huge new reserves of ultralow-permeability shales and tight sands. A natural gas market that once was characterized by limited growth potential has been transformed into one in which the sky is the limit for expanding demand across all consuming sectors! It all comes courtesy of vast unconventional gas resources that are only now being defined by independents leveraging technologies such as long-lateral horizontal drilling, massive fracture treatments, and multistage completions to pioneer the plays.

The story on domestic oil has taken a similar turn. From the enormous potential of the Lower Tertiary trend in the ultradeepwater Gulf of Mexico and emerging oil shales, to a new generation of enhanced recovery projects, independents are relying on technology such as wide-azimuth 3-D seismic, microseismic fracture monitoring, and carbon dioxide injection to lead the charge in the exploration, drilling and production activity that will secure new supplies for America.

Industry experts agree that U.S.-based independents will increasingly export the skill sets and technological tools developed in domestic operations to tackle major projects on the international front. Whether partnering with foreign national oil companies or working concessions under licensing agreements with host governments, independents are creating value the world over.

Both at home and abroad, success in oil and gas always has boiled down to the right mix of capital resources, business finesse and razor’s-edge technology. Never before have independent oil and gas companies been so critical to the energy supply chain. From thousands of private companies that specialize in particular basins to public corporations with upstream assets and operating budgets that span the globe, independents of all sizes have big plans for 2010!

America’s independents will continue to seek new sources of capital and partner with service and supply firms to amass the necessary brawn and brains to bring projects in on schedule and on budget. The premium on technology and know-how has never been greater. That is why The American Oil & Gas Reporter is always a big part of the big picture. In one monthly editorial package, expert guest authors and industry sources provide the insights to understand what is going on in legislative and financial arenas, present landmark field success stories, and discuss new technology. It is where executives and operational personnel all along the exploration, drilling and production chain of command learn
